Nothing would have made me happier than to marry Hanan — Herder
A 22-year-old son of a herder, from Adamawa State, Abdullahi Bashir, is among the number of young men biting their fingers over the wedding of Hanan, the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, which took place on Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 in Abuja.
Abdullahi, who had tried to
get the attention of Hanan, but couldn’t succeed, took to social media
recently posting a video in which he offered 150 cattle as bride price
if she agreed to his proposal.
When he learnt that she was
getting married to another man, he accepted it as the will of God and
announced his contribution of 50 cattle for the wedding ceremony.
“By
offering 150 cattle for Hanan’s hand in marriage, I didn’t mean to show
that I was wealthy, in fact I am nobodyI was not looking at the market
value of the cattle, I was looking at the value of a cow to a Fulani
man.It is easier for a Fulani man to give you one million naira than to
give you his cow.This shows how much I value and love her”.He said .
Abudllahi
who had a flare for photography , was elated when he discovered that
Pres. Buhari’s daughter, also loved the art. This caught his attention
and he was nicknamed, Fulfulde phrase meaning “Hanan’s husband”.
He
said at first he didn’t know she was the President’s daughter until
much later. His discovery didn’t prevent him for going after what his
heart wanted . So, he made enquiries and even moved to Abuja in search
of her.
When his gate-crashing into venues of high-profile
weddings and other events that attracted the wealthy and mighty in case
Hanan was there taking pictures or sitting as a guest , didn’t work , he
took to social media .
He finally gave up when it was announced
that Hanan was getting married. “It was very important for me to meet
her and disclose my feelings, even if she would gather people to beat me
up. Nothing would have made me happier than to marry her.
I
could have convinced her to accept me. If you love someone, she may not
respond immediately, she may come to develop interest in you afterwards.
Buhari I know wouldn’t mind giving me his daughter provided she loves me.” He said.
