After 2 years of blogging, I have observed that 80% of the people, active online, are either there to kill time or to seek/get attention.
It is obvious that the females or girl folks, spend more time online than the guys. The Ladies are obviously the ones who rule social media. This is due to many reasons...they are the more attractive gender, are naturally created to be attention seekers and lastly, they get bored easily and have to kill time via social networks. Despite the advantage of girl power, it is very sad that the best result they get out of all this is their number of likes and comments and nothing more.
While most of the ladies are getting all the attention on facebook and twitter yet really broke in reality, some other people might not be getting half as much attention but make huge money of the net and "Rule their world" in reality. Also, Girls are better Narrative writers than the guys are, as God naturally endowed them with the strength to express themselves better in words, than in action..but come on, instead of using your assets to get likes and comments, you can make your own blog and put up your write ups. That would be a more profitable way of utilising your time, than wasting your data plan all day talking about the dozen of pictures you've posted online.
Guys too, have no shame..some just come online to look for the latest picture to drop erotic comments on, disturb others via messages and like as many pictures as they see.. It is not bad to have some fun online, but if that's all you do all day, then you will remain at the darker end of the tunnel.
The social networks and the internet were not created for us to kill time and get attention, but for us to connect and communicate amongst ourselves, enlarge and broaden our minds with ideas, gain knowledge and earn revenue..if 90% of your data plan goes into just the fun part, then all you do is a waste of time.
The fact is that , the richest people in the world are the ones who didn't get carried away by the internet, but turned it into their money making machine. We talk of "Bill Gates", the founder of microsoft, "Mark Zuckerberg" facebook's founder , Linda Ikeji , nigeria's biggest entertainment blogger,"Ovie", the founder of notjustok and so many more.
So what's my point- instead of getting carried away by the internet and yet achieving nothing in real life, either utilize your internet time for something useful, or work to achieve more in reality.
